Video Converter

Convert video to MP3 or MP4

Drop in a video or audio file and pick what you need: the sound as MP3, M4A, or WAV, or the video as MP4 or WebM. It converts on your own device, and when the streams already fit the new format they are copied across in seconds instead of re-encoded.

Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue, no file-size paywall, and no copy of your file on someone else's server.

  • Nothing is uploaded
  • Instant when the streams fit
  • Files up to 500 MB

A video and audio converter that runs in your browser

Drop in a video or audio file and pick what you need: the sound as MP3, M4A, or WAV, or the video as MP4 or WebM. It converts on your own device, and when the streams already fit the new format they are copied across in seconds instead of re-encoded.

Why use it

Why convert files here

Private by design: the file is read and converted on your device, never sent anywhere.

Fast when it can be: an M4A from an AAC video, or an MP4 from an H.264 MKV, is copied rather than re-encoded.

It tells you before you start whether a format will be instant or a full re-encode.

Works with video and audio files up to 500 MB, with no account and no watermark.

How it works

How the converter works

  1. 1

Drop a video or audio file, or choose one. The converter reads what is inside it.

  2. 2

Pick a format. Formats that cannot work for this file, like MP3 from a silent video, are greyed out with the reason.

  3. 3

Convert, play the result back, and save it or share it to another app.

FAQ

Video converter questions

Is the converter free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark, and no limit on how many files you convert.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The converter runs in your browser on ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. It downloads once (about 32 MB), and after that every file is converted on your device.

Which formats can I convert?

In: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, M4V, MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, and Opus. Out: MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4, and WebM.

Why are some conversions instant?

When the video or sound inside a file already suits the new format, it is copied across unchanged, so nothing is lost and it takes seconds. Otherwise it is re-encoded, which takes longer on a phone than on a laptop.

Is there a file size limit?

Files up to 500 MB work. Above that, browsers tend to run out of memory.

Can I trim the video before converting?

Yes. Press Trim first and the file opens in the Video Editor with your format already picked.
